An Effective Way to Sell on Social Media [for Dummies]

If you’ve been following me, then you would know I do social media and internet marketing a little differently than everyone else; I’m the kid who colours outside the lines.

You are human, and yet you’re not human, or at least you don’t sound like one. You sound like a badly tuned robot, and that’s just me being nice. Some of you are illiterate, obnoxious fools waiting for some sale to fall into your lap because you think a social media page is really code for epic online sales generating genie. The rest of you are too self-absorbed to realise that you don’t even understand social media; and that’s just the tip of the iceberg. What you think you know, I know 10 times more, and I also know that you’re wrong too; but that’s a rant for another post.

90% of the brands on social media have not the faintest idea of what they are doing.

Now, why would I say that? Am I mad? Have I lost a few of my screws?

Major LinkedIn Mistake Many Professionals Make

If you’re only adding members from your organisation, you probably don’t know what I’m about to talk about; but if you’re like me, and love to network via social media portals, then you’ll know exactly what I mean.

The biggest turn off on LinkedIn is SPAM; and there is a great deal of it. As a professional, I hate to be sent a generic sales pitch. It’s so inhuman, boring, and lacks any creativity or effort. If you really want to sell me your products and services, then talk to me; send me a message, say hello, tell me about YOU. Sales pitches have to be crafty to be effective, but with LinkedIn, I get them every hour and as a result, I delete most of the incoming messages.
